The chloroplast is the disc-shaped double membrane-bound organelle found in the plant cells. It consists ground substance called as stroma, a site for the dark reaction of photosynthesis. A series of membrane-bound stacks of disks referred to as grana and a single unit of the functional disc is called as granum. It is the site of the light reaction of the photosynthesis.
