Why are chimneys provided over furnace in factories?

Solution

In factories, chimneys are provided above the furnace.

This is due to the fact that the hot gases emitted by the furnace are less dense than air.

They make their way up the chimney.

The smoke, fumes, and other substances that surround the furnace rush in to take their place and are sucked out.

As a result, the chimney aids in the removal of unwanted fumes, smoke, and other pollutants from the premises.
