Define the following terms: (i) Fuel cell (ii) Limiting molar conductivity $$\left( { \bigwedge }^{ o }m \right) $$

Solution

Fuel cell:- A fuel cell is a device that converts the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction. Limiting Molar Conductivity:- Molar conductivity is defined as the conductivity of an electrolyte solution divided by the molar concentration of the electrolyte, and so measures the efficiency with which a given electrolyte conducts electricity in solution. It is the conducting power of all the ions produced by dissolving one mole of an electrolyte in solution.

The following curve is obtained when molar conductivity $$ ( \Lambda_m) $$ is plotted against the square root of concentration $$ c^{1/2} $$ for two electrolytes A and B. As seen from the graph , the value of limiting molar conductivity $$ (\Lambda^{\circ}_{m}) $$ for electrolyte B cannot be obtained graphically . How can this value be obtained ?
