Hyperthyroidism is a condition caused by hypersecretion of thyroid hormones. A goitre is an example of hyperthyroidism where there is enlargement of the thyroid gland. Goitre is sometimes a side effect of hyperthyroidism. This is due to an over-stimulated thyroid and inflamed tissues.
Hence, the disease caused due to hypersecretion of the thyroxine is goitre.
